🔴 Sudanese Asylum Seeker In Court Over Attempted Kidnap of 10-Year-Old Girl
Sudanese asylum seeker charged after allegedly trying to abduct a 10-year-old girl from a Stockport park while she was walking with her father. A Sudanese man has been remanded in custody accused of attempting to kidnap a ten-year-old girl in a Stockport park while she was walking with her father.
Edris Abdelrazig, 30, was arrested on the evening of Saturday 13 July after police were called to an incident near Walnut Tree Playing Fields, in the Bramhall area of Stockport, Greater Manchester. Officers responded to reports of a suspected attempted abduction involving a child and an adult male at around 8pm.
Mr Abdelrazig, understood to be an asylum seeker residing in a government-funded hotel in nearby Wilmslow, Cheshire, was taken into custody at the scene. He has since been charged with one count of attempted kidnap.
According to preliminary information outlined in court, it is alleged that Mr Abdelrazig travelled approximately two miles from his accommodation to the location of the incident. The child, a ten-year-old girl, was reportedly with her father when the alleged attempt to remove her took place.
There were no reports of physical injury, and the child was not taken from the scene.
Mr Abdelrazig first appeared before Stockport Magistrates’ Court on Monday 15 July, where the case was sent to the Crown Court.
No plea has been entered to date, and no further details regarding the circumstances of the alleged offence have been disclosed by the prosecution.
The suspect remains in custody and is next due to appear on Monday 26 August for a plea and trial preparation hearing (PTPH).
